The Long View Project

A program to build leadership capacity and meet the challenges of climate change

What do we want in 2050?

Many of us are deeply concerned about where the planet is headed and the future we are creating for our children and grandchildren.

This program is for organisations — and the individuals, teams and communities within them — who want to face these concerns and make a difference.

Global warming — more accurately, global overheating — and environmental degradation present all of us with an unprecedented challenge.

The complexity of the solutions and the dynamics of how individuals, organisations and communities interact require new levels of understanding and leadership skills.

Only by working together can we sustain and regenerate the world that we and our children live in.

When?

The program runs from May to July 2007. Beginning with an online introduction from 14 to 22 May, the Long View workshop takes place from 23 to 25 May 2007, with action projects undertaken from the end of May through until the end of July. A transition day to reflect on actions and to plan next steps is scheduled for 27 July 2007.

Where?

Whilst much of this program can be completed online and from your workplace, the workshop session will be held in the Australian National Botanical Gardens, which is on the foothills of Black Mountain in the centre of Canberra.

How much?

$3500 [including GST]. Fees cover all program sessions and materials, lunches, and dinner on the first evening, online modules and support, and a copy each of The natural advantage of nations, by Karlson Hargroves and Michael Smith, an authoritative guide to building the new sustainable economy, and The weather makers by Tim Flannery — one of Australia's and the world's leading experts on climate change.
